Approach and avoidance. Approach states that moving toward something. Avoidance states that moving away from something. Conflict is a situation in which we have to make choice between our needs, likes, dislikes or demands.

Approach- approach conflict states that person has to make choice between two events that are both attractive.

Approach-avoidance conflict states that there is one event which has both positive (approach) and negative (avoidance) effects and that makes goal attractive and unattractive simultaneously.

Avoidance-avoidance conflict means person has to make choice between two events that are not appealing. Example: when one has to decide between to do unwanted office work which is called avoidance or to study unwanted subject which is also avoidance.
