Is a gene bigger than DNA?

No, gene is not bigger than DNA…

Hereditary information found in genes which is located in the chromosomes of each cell. Chromosomes found in the nucleus of the cell that contain dna stretches called as genes.

A human cell contains approx. 30,000 genes. Traits which are inherited are determined by one or many genes and single gene can express more than one trait.

A gene is a short piece or stretch of DNA that control the hereditary material of organisms. Offspring resemble their parents because genes are passed from parents onto their children and by this way information can be transferred from one generation to the next.

A gene produce a specific product, usually a protein, or an enzyme that are used for specific action. The DNA molecules contains thousands of genes which is located inside chromosomes. Therefore, gene is smaller than DNA.

There are approx. 30,000 protein coding genes (genes expressed) in human.

A gene is a tiny section of a long DNA molecule, which are coded with instructions that allow a cell to produce a specific product, usually a protein.

      DNA → RNA → protein

Gene expression is defined as the process by which gene is expressed or used for production of functional protein or gene product.
