RUNAWAY GREENHOUSE EFFECT

Mars’ atmosphere consists of over 95% carbon dioxide. Venus has the same percentage, why is there no runaway greenhouse effect on Mars?

A runaway greenhouse effect has a net positive feedback between surface temperature and atmosphere. It increases the effect of the greenhouse gas on a planet.

Mars atmosphere consists of over 95% carbon dioxide, CO2. Venus has the same percentage. Even then there is no runaway greenhouse effect on Mars

Because Mars does have carbon dioxide, but no atmosphere. And the existing atmosphere is very and it cannot retain energy from the Sun. Therefore there is extreme temperature differences between day and night and sun or shade.

So for greenhouse effect there has greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and atmosphere of mars is very thin. The surface pressure on Mars is 0.6% and there very little of anything to trap heat.
