Carbohydrates are one of the important food group for healthy diet. The two main forms of carbohydrates are sugars and starch. Sugars such as fructose, glucose, and lactose. Starches such as rice, breads, and cereals. Storage Form of Carbohydrates in Animals and Plants are as follows:

The body breaks down carbohydrates into smallest units called as glucose. Glucose is the main source of energy for our body.

Storage forms of of carbohydrates or glucose in animals is glycogen. When the body do not need glucose for energy then it stores it in the form of glycogen in the liver and muscles. Glycogen is made up of many glucose units.

Storage forms of of carbohydrates or glucose in plants is starch. Plants also synthesize glucose, and excess glucose is stored in the form of starch in roots and seeds.
