    Functions of Vacuole, Nucleoplasm and Free Ribosomes

    A) Function of vacuole:

    Vacuole is defined as space inside the cell that is filled with air or fluid. It is like a bubble inside the cell.

    The vacuole plays an important role in controlling of cell volume and cell turgor.

    Function of vacuole is according to the cell in which it is present. For example:

    1. In animal cells, it is not required much but involved in endocytosis and exocytosis processes.

    2. In plant cells it maintain proper pH, store water, maintain turgor pressure, adjust size of the cell and retain shape of cell.

    3. In species of sulfur bacteria, vacuoles are used to store nitrate ions that may be used later by the cell.

    B) Function of nucleoplasm:

    Nucleoplasm present inside the nucleus and is enclosed by nuclear envelope. It is composed of nucleolus and chromatin.

    Nucleoplasm is involved in processes such as transcription, replication that are required for the survival of a eukaryote nucleoplasm consists of such materials including.

    C) Functions of Free ribosomes:

    Ribosome are the “Factory” of cell that helps in production of proteins. They are the small structures of RNA and protein and it act as the workbench of the cell. It helps to synthesize protein that is coded instructions given by cell.

    Free ribosomes are located in the cytosol and membrane bound ribosomes are attached to the rough Endoplasmic Reticulum.

    Both types of ribosomes synthesize different proteins. Membrane-bound ribosomes synthesize proteins that are exported from the cell so that they are be used somewhere else.

    Free ribosomes synthesize proteins that are used by the cell itself.
