Tongue is the strongest muscle in the human body. The main function of tongue is to taste. Besides this, it also helps in eating, swallowing and talking.
Tongue is a tiny organ that has rough surface called as papillae. Therefore, papillae is defined as the small bumps on the surface of the tongue that gives rough surface on the top and helps in eating.
Papillae contains taste buds that helps us taste the food. An average human being has around 10,000 taste buds. The pattern that papillae makes on tongue is unique to everyone just like our fingerprints.
All these 10,000 taste buds helps to taste total five tastes. These are sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami. The taste we experience is combination of all five tastes...
