    Key physical feature found on Callicarpa americana that can be used for identification/classification are : 1) Callicarpa americana most often grows 3-5 ft. tall and wide as can reach 9 ft. in height. 2) It has long, arching branches and yellow-green fall foliage. 3) It has clusters of glossy, iridescent-purple fruit and sometimes white that hug the branches at leaf axils in the winter and fall. 4) On the older wood, bark light brown and on younger wood, reddish brown. 5) - Leaves in pairs or in threes - blades half as wide as long and up to 9 inches long. 6) Flowers are small, pink and in dense clusters. Clusters usually not exceed the leaf petioles. 7) Fruits are distinctly colored ( rose pink or lavender pink) berrylike. It is about 1/4 inch long and 3/16 inch wide.
