If the 200 babies include exactly 130 girls, would you consider this result Statistically significant or would you attribute it to random fluctuations? Statistically significance is judgment of whether a result occurs by chance. When we say, result is statistically significant, it means that it is unlikely that the result occurs because of chance or random fluctuation. In the question, 200 couples are given a treatment designed to increase the likelihood of a girl. And exactly 130 girls included in the 200 babies is more than the expectation as couples are given treatment to increase the likelihood of a girl, and by chance which is rare event, the result would be statistically significant...
